                           AFRICAN TRAVEL EXPO CELEBRATES AFRICAN CULTURE

TORONTO – WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5TH, 2009 – With a mission to promote Africa and to expand African business and tourism to the North American market, The FIRST ANNUAL AFRICAN TRAVEL EXPO will take place at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel,  Essex Room, 123 Queen Street West , from September 1st to the 3rd, 2009. The event will feature exhibitors promoting travel, tourism and real estate products from Africa along with daily entertainment, seminars and prizes to be won.

The three-day expo will feature African exhibitors and expects to receive around 5,000 visitors. Exhibitors will include industry representatives from the travel and tourism, real estate, government and corporate sectors. “The purpose of the show is to promote tourism and real estate in Africa by bringing together African-based businesses and tourism officials with Canadian and American consumers. Africa , to a large extent, has bucked the global slowdown and has shown growth in travel, branding opportunities and investment,” says Patience Chirisa, event organizer and president of the African Travel Expo.

Complimentary seminars on African travel and real estate products will be offered daily. One such seminar will feature businessman and renowned football administrator Herbert Mensah, who is on a personal and passionate quest for African transformation. Entertainment highlights include  dancers, free drumming classes provided by Alpha Rhythm Roots, Spoken word artist who mixes her act with music - Tanya Tulloch Very uplifting and influential., music by The Svens: http://www.myspace.com/thesvens, fashion shows and live music by African musicians which will be announced shortly.

A special invite only VIP cocktail event is planned for exhibitors, media and government officials on the first night of the expo to promote networking opportunities. There will be a special guest performance at the trade party which will run from 6:00 pm-8:00pm.
